The Anatomy of a Scam

Throughout the year myself and others are plagued by spam. Most spam is not a problem, it is easily identified as such and ignored. However, sometimes there are particularly nasty spam emails called phishing scams. The idea of the phishing scam is to get personal monetary details from the person being fooled, e.g. bank account numbers, card details etc… The way they accomplish this ranges from completely ridiculous:

“The King of Nigeria has passed away and left you $32 million USD, we just need your bank account details to transfer you the money.”

To pretty sophisticated. I’ll be showing you an example of the latter here, and what to look out for so that you don’t get fooled:
